I love snail mail!

While I love the convenience of e-mail, I have to admit that receiving fun pieces of snail mail makes me tingly inside. My day today was twice as sweet because there were two delightful little envelopes waiting for me in my mailbox. Let me share with you what made my day:

Thank you Jen + Justin and Laura + Victor for making me smile today! You guys are the best!!!

the Hipp family

I showed up to this fun family's home and found Brayden playing with his trains. I love this photo for so many reasons -- the abundance of window light, the reflections, a boy and his trains...

Meanwhile, little Kyle clung to his mama's leg.

Soon, though, everyone warmed up for story time!

Later, while Kyle and Dad had a little fun in the kitchen,

Brayden and Mom enjoyed another book.

I'm in love with this lamp. Hey, Nicky, I'll trade you some prints for it...

There is just something so real about family photos in the bedroom. This is one of my favorite family photos I have ever taken.

We tried to get the group all sitting together on the bed, but you know, toddlers have minds of their own! I think this photo turned out just perfect.

Kyle's expression is priceless! I love love love this one!!!

What a happy kid!

We ended the day with a little music. This one is for Grandpa.

What a fabulous session! Nicky, your family is absolutely gorgeous and as sweet as can be. I had such a great time with all of you!!! Thank you for inviting me to capture these moments for you.

another sick day

I am tired of sneezing and blowing my nose and being congested and sounding raspy and not being able to breathe and feeling achy. I just can't seem to shake this cold/flu/virus. I haven't even bothered to go to the doctor this time around because I am allergic to every remedy under the sun. Thankfully I have a sweet husband by my side -- one who surprised me with flowers and my favorite kind of cereal (Gorilla Munch from Trader Joe's) today. He gives me a hundred reasons every day to love him more than yesterday and I am so blessed and thankful to have married such a wonderful man.

When I'm not resting, I'm working, albeit under a blanket on the couch. So while I had hoped to have this full blog posting ready for your viewing pleasure, I can only offer you one more photo of this sweet boy. I came across this photo while processing their session this evening and it made me chuckle. Ah, the joy of a child jumping on his parents' bed...isn't it refreshingly wonderful?

a new favorite

Today I want to share my new favorite fragrance with you -- Daisy by Marc Jacobs. It is the most wonderful scent -- so sweet, clean, sunny, airy, and light. Check it out when you get a chance. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it! If you go to the Daisy website, you can even grow your own little daisy.

my Monday

I feel like such a bum right now. I'm practically useless -- just sitting on the couch under a blanket, sick, finishing Laura and Victor's wedding album while watching Ken play Oregon Trail. Every now and then I snuggle up to him to check the status of our little pioneer family. So far we are all still alive, although a snake bit me a few minutes ago. The simplest things make me happy, but that is even truer when I'm sick. For example, today Ken brought home two more avocados, along with some paczki to eat on Fat Tuesday. Yum! And, while I was working on Laura and Victor's album spreads, I stopped to smile at this photo. It's one of their favors -- a morocco -- and it's a perfect example of how these two colors are so fabulous together!

Well, Ken just announced that I have typhoid, so I better go get some rest.

Holy guacamole!

After a week of searching, we finally found some avocados tonight! Ken generally goes to the grocery store every other day or so to buy avocados. You see, we eat them like crazy in this house. We slice them up and eat them plain, we eat them with crackers, and I use them to make the best homemade guacamole ever. After not having avocados for more than a week, we were starting to get a little concerned, and jokingly referred to the situation as "the great avocado shortage of 2009." Yesterday, in desperate need of an avocado fix, we decided to have lunch at one of our favorite places, Cafe Patachou, because they have the yummiest vegetarian sandwich with avocados. While the sandwich was still delicious, we noticed that the usually perfect avocados were a bit discolored. Ken and I decided that there really must be an avocado situation. Since I had my laptop with me, I consulted Google and what do you know...our suspicion was correct! Oh well, at least we have two to tide us over!

And, because blog posts are always better with photos, here is a sneak peek of a fun session I shot today at my house.

story time!

Here is another photo from my in home session with the Hipp family. Brayden is enjoying story time with his mama. Cute, eh?

I'll get the full post up sometime this week, I promise! I bought a new computer and I'm still in the process of migrating data and getting everything situated.

a little slice of happiness

I'm working on Laura and Victor's wedding album and wanted to share this fun photo with you. I was actually photographing Victor and the guys but turned around for a few seconds and caught this little slice of happiness. I love the colors, the light, and the caught in the moment feeling of this photo. I was so excited to see that this photo made it to their album!

I hope this cheerful photo warms up your weekend. It certainly is cold out there...and they say more snow is on its way to Indy soon!

the sweetest thing

Ken told me he has loved me since the beginning of time. Maybe that's why he surprised me with these perfect earrings.

Does anyone recognize the 1940s camera those sweet owls are sitting on? In case you can't tell, I have a thing for vintage cameras.

Sarah + Michael

This post is long overdue! I have been saving it.

Ken and I photographed Sarah and Michael's engagement in Brown County this fall. It was absolutely gorgeous out there, a feast of golden colors for miles and miles.

Sarah showed up in these amazing yellow heels! When I commented on them, she said she wore them just for me.

It is so obvious how much he loves her. This photo makes me smile.

Of course I took the standard Lindsay Wilson PHOTOGRAPHY shot. I seriously love these shots because they make awesome canvases and storybook album covers!

Sarah is such a natural beauty.

Can't you just feel the happiness here?!?!

I saved my absolute favorites for last. I love this series!

Oww oww!!!

After the shoot, Sarah and Michael recommended the most delicious homemade pumpkin ice cream in downtown Brown County. We'll be back for more, that's for sure!

I can't wait to see you guys for your wedding this summer! It's going to be fabulous!

Karen wins!

I asked Ken to draw a number and he chose 7. Karen's comment was the 7th comment on the first dance post, so she wins the iTunes gift card! Karen, send me your address and I'll get this in the mail to you.

Jake, Justin, Ken, and I are working on a fun little project in the next few weeks. Here's a little foreshadowing for you:

I absolutely love this camera. I shot this photo in our bedroom -- there is such great light in there! For those interested in purchasing a fine art print, shoot me an email. Matted and signed prints are available for $25 each now through March 15. The catch? I'm only making 20.

coming soon

I'm back from a wonderful weekend in Chicago with Ken. We had so much fun!!! I love everything about that city.

Several people commented about not seeing a Friday blog, and I couldn't figure it out because I know I posted! The next day, Ken reminded me we were in a Central Time Zone -- an hour behind the Indiana people, so while it was before midnight when I posted, it was after midnight in Indiana. Soooo, that solves that. I suppose since I have blog readers all over the place, I should post in whatever time zone I happen to be in at the time. My computer automatically adjusts for that anyway!

I have some fun things coming your way soon, in no particular order:

the Hipp family
Sarah + Michael - engaged
Ellie + Matt - I do
best of 2008 weddings
featured weddings
my wedding!!! (seriously, what is taking me so long?)
and much, much more!

Remember, all big canvases are on sale this month -- $100 off!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope your day is filled with love, fun, laughter, yummy cupcakes, and chocolate covered strawberries!  I shot this photo while walking with Ken through the village of Oia in Greece.  It looks like someone drilled holes through an old wooden wall.  I just love finding little treasures like this!

Ken surprised me with the sweetest owl earrings today!  I'll post photos in the next couple days.

xoxo

There is still time!!!

For the slackers out there, there is still time to send your significant other flowers for Valentine's Day tomorrow.  Check it out!  I personally love the "How Sweet It Is" arrangement.  Thank me later.  :-)

first dance

I always love seeing a new bride and groom dance together for the first time. There is just something so incredibly sweet about that moment. Ken and I danced to "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. Everything about that song is just perfect for us.

Whether you are planning your wedding or you are already married, I'd love to hear all about your first dance song. Leave your song in a comment below for a chance to win an iTunes gift card. I will choose a random winner on Monday!

We took these photos while on Santorini Island, Greece -- the most perfect place in the world. They make us smile really big smiles when we look at them. :-)

Athena + Eric

It rained and rained and rained on Athena and Eric's wedding day, but that didn't stop us from getting some great photos and having a wonderful day! Besides, legend has it that rain on your wedding day is a symbol for good luck. It represents freshness and good tidings for a fruitful future together.

I'll start off with Athena's gorgeous red shoes. They were my size and I was tempted to steal them, but I let her have them.

I always love getting ready shots.

I thought the fall pattern on their programs was so sweet.

The gown in a gorgeous window.

Ken grabbed this one. The colors are amazing!!!

I was obsessed with their flowers. The colors and textures were to die for!

Athena's beautiful bouquet.

Meet Eric, the groom.

This was the result of all that curling.

I love mascara shots!

She's almost ready.

This is one of my favorite ceremony shots ever. I adore the way Athena and her brother are looking at each other. Look at that happiness!!!

My view from the back of the church.

A sweet moment in the receiving line.

Off to the reception! There is something so real about this one that I love.

One of my favorites of the day! (But you probably knew that.)

I love the way the bouquet pops.

Ken took this one and it is another favorite! It would make an awesome gallery wrapped canvas.

Athena made homemade caramel popcorn and caramel apples for favors. Delicious!

Their cake was gorgeous!

Oh I love this one. Love love love it! Metallic canvas, anyone?

I'll end with another favorite.

Athena and Eric, your wedding was beautiful. Thank you so much for inviting Ken and me to share your day with you. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!!
